Being a full-time blogger seems to be so rewarding and fulfilling but not everybody is cut out for it. Here are 5 Things You Should Know About Blogging.
1. It Takes Time to Get Noticed
Beginner bloggers often quit after a couple of months because they don’t see any increase in their site’s traffic and this a HUGE mistake! It takes time for your blog to get noticed. Keep on writing and continue posting regularly even though no one seems to be reading them. Experienced bloggers often say that only you “make it” as blogger if you’ve been blogging for 3 years!
2. It’s Not as Easy as it Seems
Blogging takes work. You need to constantly think about creating content that is relevant and interesting. Aside from that, you need to think about how to market your site through different social media platforms. You need to make connections, keep an eye on the updates of search engine algorithms and creating EVEN MORE content!
It is hard work and that’s why a lot of people fail at it because they expect it to be an easy way to earn money. Remember that nothing worth having comes easy.

3. It’s Not Free
Most people blog because they want to make money off of their content. But if you use free blogging platforms such as Blogger, Medium, Tumblr and WordPress.com then there are limitations when it comes to monetizing content from your site.
In order for you to have full control of your blog you need to self-host it by buying a hosting and domain name. This will cost you around $50 to $100 dollars a year.
4. The Shorter the Better
Make your posts reader-friendly by:
- Adding images, videos or infographics
- Use headings
- Limiting yourself in using difficult words in your articles
- Write 3 to 4 short sentences per paragraph
- Use list bullets whenever appropriate

5. Design is Important
The design of your site is the first thing people will notice. No matter how well written your posts are, if your web design looks untidy then chances are the visitors will click out immediately. Be sure to create a good impression on your visitors by making your site look neat and professional.
People everywhere are on mobile devices so it is also imperative to make your site mobile-friendly. This way, you can are able to reach more people and it will make your blog functional in ANY device.

I love that you opened with “it takes time to get noticed.” I think a lot of people –myself included– think it’s easy to get noticed and when you get into the thick of blogging, you realize it’s such hard work. But, if you love it, you’ll definitely stick it out.
