Building a presence for your business in social media is NOT easy. And it will never be easy.

If you are still starting out, it will feel like all your efforts are all for nothing. Especially when you see that the only engagement your posts get are those from your workmates or close friends. It’s easy to lose hope during the early stages.

Even if you already established a big following, you still need to provide relevant content to your audience constantly. Remember that your competitors are also in social media and are ALSO eying your following. If you fail to keep your followers interested, it’s very easy for them to jump ship and abandon you!

So, what should you do?

Have faith in your business and keep posting. Even if you feel like no one is watching. Because one day, someone is going to look you up and see your content. And if you gave up, then they’ll find an outdated page. As a result, that potential customer will look for another active business to buy products or services from.

There’s no room for error

We are humans and we all make mistakes, right?

If you put out a wrong piece of information, oftentimes there is someone who will notice that and bring it your attention which in effect brings it to the attention of every visitor of your page. And before you know it, your credibility is already tainted.

It’s not totally free

Sure, Facebook, Twitter and other social media platforms are free but let’s face it, these sites are also businesses and you need to give them something in order for them to help you out! Oftentimes, these sites restrict the amount of reach you’re able to get from your unpaid posts. Which means that even if 500 followers, that doesn’t mean that every post you make is going to reach 500 people.

You need to consider spending money in advertising but the good news is, it’s not that expensive compared to traditional advertising costs.

You’ll feel bad a lot of times

The thing about social media marketing is there’s no exact way you can succeed at it. One strategy might work for one business but it won’t work for the other. So don’t feel bad that nothing seems to be working for you at the moment. Chances are, your competitors also feel the same thing. You’re not alone!

Despite all of these, social media marketing remains to be the most cost-efficient marketing strategy today. It DOES work!  But it’s NOT a magic solution and success with it won’t happen overnight. It will take time and serious commitment.
